They didn’t win their league last year.

Re: Messi
I get that he’s upset about leaving somewhere he’s been for so long, but I’m not buying this ‘I did all I could to stay’ nonsense. He earns around £27m a year in sponsorship deals. He could play for free if he really wanted to stay. He could play for the average wage at the club. He could stay on a one year deal. Loads of options.

I don’t necessarily blame him for wanting him to max out his earnings over the next few years, but don’t make out like Barca are forcing you out just a year after you desperately wanted to go

Good to see he’s really challenging himself by going to a club that should walk their league every year too

Re: Messi
Apparently he is going to get £30 million per year in Paris. Surprised an English club isn’t in for him at that price. He will cover that wage and more in merchandise and marketing.

Re: Messi
it's all a bit silly really. They could have bagged 50-100m from selling him last season even in his last year. But the club are so deluded they forced him to stay.

I wonder what will happen if they cant register some of their meaning players? Legally, it would be hilarious if the players who cant play force their hand to sell.

I mean, how can Couthinho, Depay, Greizman, Demble etc. sit out a season because they cant be registered? Arent barca destroying their careers? Could they force Barca to sell them for a cut price?

Going to be interesting ...

Re: Messi
There’s still complications with those signings and they haven’t been registered yet apparently.

dealcanvey 3:22 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
But it was ok for them to sign aguero, depay in this window despite their astronomical debt?

collyrob 3:08 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
They need their wage to revenue to be 70%, if Messi played for free it would still be 95%. They can’t get rid of the other players because nobody will buy them/match their wages. It’s a shit show.

dealcanvey 3:04 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
If he plays for free how would he affect the wage structure?

He may have already took a 50% pay cut but the deal kept him at Barca until he was 40!

Re: Messi

He wanted to leave under bartameu, then Laporte came in and things have changed. He agreed his new deal, took a 50% pay cut, and now they can’t register him. It’s a fuck up by the club.

Re: Messi
haven't won a CL since the days of xavi/iniesta, I'm just glad he's joining those poisonous cunts in paris. he's made for them

Sven Roeder 2:44 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
They have been a disaster zone for years with horrendous signings and the end of the Xavi & Iniesta era

They need to move on from Messi.
Shift the likes of Coutinho & Dembele and draw a line under Busquets , Pique etc
Start again with kids around the likes of DeJong & Griezmann
Trying to sign the likes of Aguero & Depay is madness.

Pagey 2:40 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
Hence me saying it would have been sorted out ages ago, you arrogant prick.

collyrob 2:37 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
Can you not read?

They can not register him until they remove about 200 million in wages. The club has been mismanaged for years and it’s now biting them on the arse.

Pagey 2:24 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
If Messi really wanted to stay it would have been sorted out ages ago and he would have seriously reduced his wage demands to continue his ‘dream’. Plus they wouldn’t have signed others on a massive wage.

He’s gone for the money. Nobody can blame him for that, but let’s not pretend that there wasn’t a solution if he really wanted there to be one. That’s why the tears are slightly fake. Apparently he’s having a medical at PSG tonight. I reckon the tears will have stopped by then.

Re: Messi
I bet Aguero regrets signing now!

Might be some Barca players going on the cheap.

Nou Camp to the Bowl…..perfect.

collyrob 2:16 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
“Just to clear something up about Messi playing for free (he shouldn’t have to). Barca’s wage to revenue ratio is currently at around 115%. Even without Messi’s wages, it’s still 95%. La Liga’s salary cap is set at 70%. So even if Messi played for free,Barca couldn’t register him.“

collyrob 2:08 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
Folk still misunderstanding why he can’t stay. No matter what they pay him they can’t register him at the moment. He could be on €1 a week and they still can not register him.

Sven Roeder 2:01 Sun Aug 8
Re: Messi
I'm sure the club will have said to him we can only comply with the regulations and keep you if you accept THIS FIGURE

That might be £250k or £150k or whatever.
And he has chosen to protect his bank account

Aguero is the one I feel sorry for
COME & JOIN ME MATE, IT WILL BE GREAT

Though understand Bernardo Silva wants to go there so might work out ok

He did?

How will he survive, the poor thing
